Dr Anthea BVSc (Hons), MScVSc, BSc
A Dedicated Veterinarian with a Passion for Animal Behavior and Well-Being
Anthea is a qualified veterinarian who is a passionate advocate for animal behavior, mental health, and internal medicine. Her fascination with animal behavior blossomed long before her veterinary training, but it truly ignited when she began fostering dogs and cats. Caring for a diverse array of pets from various backgrounds, each with their own unique challenges, solidified her commitment to a career focused on understanding and improving animal behavior.
Before embarking on her veterinary journey, Anthea earned a Bachelor of Science followed by a Master’s degree that centered on feline parasites. This strong academic foundation paved the way for her veterinary degree, after which she completed a rotating internship at Veterinary Specialist Services in Brisbane. Transitioning to general practice in Brisbane, Anthea found her niche, working closely with behavior patients and empowering pet guardians to enhance their pets' lives. Recognizing her expertise and passion, she was invited to join a behavior-specific clinic in Adelaide- Pawly Understood, where she had the opportunity to expand her skills and tackle complex behavior cases. Now back in Brisbane, Anthea maintains a close relationship with the team and clients from the Adelaide clinic, ensuring continuity of care and support for the patients she worked with there. She finds immense fulfillment in helping families strengthen their bond with their pets and overcome behavioral challenges.
Her commitment to animal welfare continues at home as she fosters pets, including her most recent charge, Maisey—a spirited teen mother who has just raised a litter of kittens and is now ready to rediscover her youthful spirit.
